Max's First Haircut...

Last week my mom, my aunt & uncle came all the way out from Michigan for a visit. We had a blast. We went to the new racetrack our town has and watched a really cool car & airplane show. It was about 900' but still fun. Max was enthralled in watching everything.

We also went to Cape May, which I always love to do. It's right on the water, has all kinds of really cute shops, and a ton of great little restaurants. The best thing of all is that you can walk right to the ocean....it's great. Here are a few pics....
During their visit I asked my Aunt Nancy to give Max his very first haircut. I have been thinking about it for the last month or so but was a little nervous to do it myself. She is a stylist at home so I figured it would be perfect. Max did amazingly well. We snagged him when he woke up from his nap and he just sat there as cute as can be.

The dogs also had a great time visit. My mom brought Izzaboo with them, Magoo's sister from the same litter.

As you can clearly see Izzaboo is just as much a ham as Magoo is....she just had to have her picture taken!

Here are the two of them acting like fools while Max was trying to watch Sesame Street with Nana. And here are the boys, they pretty much just tuned out us ladies for the entire trip....probably safer for them that way anyhow! LOL!

Here is my favorite picture of Max....I was trying to take a picture of the two of us while we were on the beach but he kept reaching for the camera so this is the shot that I got...

Anyway, it was a great trip and I was sad to see them go but was so glad they were able to come out for a few days!

Fundamental Difference....

If I never hear these two words again it will be all too soon in my book. Karl and I, being the good Americans we are, decided to watch the debate tonight. Both of us were immediately frustrated that neither McCain nor Obama really answered any of the questions presented to them....we both agreed on that fact.

Sadly that is where our agreeing ended. We both have very differing views on many of the topics of the debate. I would say that I am much more liberal than he is. We were on the brink of actually arguing with each other - and I mean raised voices, on the edge of our seat, veins pulsing "discussing" when we both realized that we were acting like idiots and decided that there was a 'FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE' in our political views!

We also decided that we weren't going to watch any more of the debate because it was just stressing us out, and we figured that we had time to cool down since there are a few more debates down the road. :)

Oh, before my mother has a conniption, the camera's batteries died so that is why there are no pictures of Max. I will get them on tomorrow! :)

Mr. Adorable....

As I mentioned yesterday Max has taken a liking to his blankey & his Nuk (a.k.a pacifier). He likes to take them out of his crib and walk around with them....I found a cute picture of Linus but it was only the cartoon...here is a real live picture of Linus.

You can see just a hint of a smile under the Nuk in this one...such a little stinker.

A Miracle On Main St....

Main St. being the road that we live on.

A truly miraculous things happened yesterday. Max and I were playing in the living room and he was about due for his afternoon nap, which I might add his schedule is all out of whack since his 1st swim class, but I digress....

We were playing in the living room and Max was walking around with his blanket from his crib, looking scarily similar to Linus, (he was able to pull it through the rails), plus he was able to reach his Nuk a.k.a pacifier.....I could tell he was becoming a bit fussy so I casually mentioned that it might be about time for his nap. Here is where the miracle occurred...

Max looked at me, turned on a dime, like he was attending West Point, and high-tailed it to his room....here I am following behind him in absolute awe as he reaches his room, walks right up to his crib, grabs a rail, turns and looks at me like "what is taking you so long".

I change his diaper, plop him down in bed and out he goes. A true miracle my friends!

Eastern States Exposistion....

Otherwise known to the East Coast as "The Big E". We just went to this over the weekend and had a blast!

The Big E is difficult to describe...here is what is listed on their web-page:
"There's no better place to enjoy the sights, sounds and taste tempting aromas of the fall season than at The Big E, New England's Autumn Tradition and the largest fair in the northeast. It's a New England extravaganza with top name entertainment, major exhibits, The Big E Super Circus, the Avenue of States, New England history and agriculture, animals, rides, shopping, crafts, a daily parade and a Mardi Gras parade and foods from around the world for 17 glorious days during New England's most colorful season."

That about sums it up, except for it was sooooo much more. I have never seen so many cool vendors, so much food, and so many things for the kids to do. We were there all day Saturday and did not get through everything....but it was fun what we did get through. Max was a trouper. Slept sooo good all weekend, even took a nap in his stroller while we walked around on Saturday. That was a first!

One of the best things I think that I ate while there was "The Big E Eclair", they also had "The Big E Cream Puffs". Get a load of this picture.... I have no idea who the woman, this was on their website....but the Cream Puff really is that big and is that delicious...they did not have a picture of the eclair but let me tell you it made my mouth water while I was in line!
Anyway it was a fantastic weekend and if anyone is every looking for a fun trip to do in late September I HIGHLY recommend this festival! We will be going back next year for sure!!! It's now going to be a tradition!

A Virtual Makeover....

The Mary Kay Webiste now offers this fun tool called "Virtual Makeover". You can upload a picture of yourself and then play around with all the new mineral eye & cheek colors. You can also pick a new hairstyle, along with a hair color and highlights/lowlights....I decided to get on and try it out for myself.
Now I have to say I am a little nervous about posting my before pic because it's none to pretty (that was my warning, and if I hear one peep out of anyone I know where you all live!). But I thought my after pic turned out quite nice....thinking of even growing my hair out long again....what are all of your thoughts!

Heaven On Earth....

I have found the most amazing sheets! We have a king size bed, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. It has enough room for both Karl and I as well as Miss Magoo. Who has slept with us in bed since she could jump high enough to get on to it - pretty much from birth....just kidding.

But I have realized that buying king size sheets really stinks. They are CRAZY expensive. I think that I only have maybe 3 pair that I just keep washing like nuts because I am too stubborn to go out and pay $70-80 dollars for a set. Now would I pay that for a purse or a pair of shoes....do I really need to answer that! Come on....

Anyway, I was out doing some shopping at BJ's (similar to Costco or Sam's) and because I was by myself, Karl was home with Max, I was wandering down just about every aisle. I came across the aisle with sheet, pillows, blankets, etc. I just happen to notice that they have a set of king size sheets for $39.99. I am floored. I am thinking that they are probably going to feel like cardboard, I want to feel them but the box is all kinds of crazy sealed so I take a leap of faith and get them.

When I get home I notice that they are 100% organic cotton. I am kind of thinking big whup. OMG! Last night I finally put them on and I almost fell over when I finally got the box open and felt them for the first time. They were like silk. I am not kidding - like silk. Even Karl was impressed. We both said when we got them on the bed we felt guilty for sleeping on them....they are like 5 star quality hotel sheets....I wish that I could convey how great these sheets felt. To me (and my mom will agree) there is nothing like slipping onto a bed with fresh sheets on. These were amazing.

I have to say that was the best $40 purchase I have made in a very long time. I am seriously considering going back and getting another set.....

Like A Fish....

Max loves the water. Which is one of the reasons we signed him up for lessons at the local community center...thanks for that great birthday gift Mom-Mom! This past Friday was his very first class and it was interesting.

On any normal day Max is up at pretty much 6, 6:15 am - like clockwork. This particular day Max slept until 7 am. I didn't even wake up until Karl's alarm went off at 7:40 am. If I would have used half of my brain I would have just got up and woke Max up. Knowing that his swim class started at 10 am and there is usually a pretty good chance he is still sleeping for his 1st nap at that time, I knew it was going to be cut short. BUT of course staying in bed got the better of me.

So around 8:30 am I dared to put Max down for his nap knowing that he probably would only get about a 1/2 hour of sleep. Well he sure put me to the test. He didn't sleep at all....nothing, not even for 10 minutes. At 9:10 am I finally went in and got him changed, got all of our stuff together and headed into town for our very first class.

By the time we got there and actually got in the pool he was then ready to go to sleep and was like saran wrap. Nothing I did made him want to let go of me. NOTHING. The instructor was not phased at all...she just kept encouraging me to get him in to his shoulders and just move around, eventually he would get used to everything. I wish that I could say I have a really cute picture of him at his first class BUT I don't. Sorry. BUT I do have some cute pictures from his bath tonight....

There are a few more but I don't think that Max would appreciate it if I showed the world his full glory! LOL!

Max & Guiness.....

Last week my Mary Kay director was up from Virginia to help us with an event we were having as well as some training and I was desperate for a baby-sitter.....well I was saved by "THE GODFATHER", a.k.a Danny - Karl's brother.

He was so great, he came down all the way from New York just to watch Max for me for the day....I can't thank you enough Danny for your help! We were lucky enough to have him bring his adorable new cute puppy Guiness....as you can imagine Max loved him.....see below! They are on the small side but he took them with his cell phone....

Mr. Max...

My mother is going to kill me. I just talked to her on the phone this morning and was telling her how I have the funniest video of Max yelling at me, and I deleted it. I am not sure how I did it but it's gone, vanished, kaput. BUT......I do have some extremely cute pictures of Max in just his diaper....he had just spilled the water dish for the animals so he was drenched. Sorry Mom!!!!
