Last Sunday I got to do something REALLY, REALLY, REALLY cool! My friend Trish (from my playgroup) invited me to come to a photo shoot that HER childhood friend was doing.
Her friend is launching a clothing line and this was to be her very first photo shoot highlighting the clothes. Trish has asked me if I would be interested in doing the models makeup. I was flattered and VERY nervous. For most of you that know me know that I am a total girlie-girl. I LOVE make-up, and for that matter clothes, shoes, purses, etc....so I immediately said YES. Then of course started freaking out about it.
BUT none the less Sunday morning came, gave the Fam lots of hugs and kisses and headed off to Valley Forge, PA. Just want to add that I was a nervous wreck the whole time. I am by no means a "professional make-up artist", and this was someone's vision, possibly a huge dream of their's being fulfilled.
When I first got there I had a chance to meet Jen (the creater) and then got a quick glance at the clothes (ADORABLE by the way), and got started. The models were going to be outside so Jen wanted a very natural look for the girls - I got to work.....
I had an absolute blast!!! I ended up doing four models and then hung out for a little bit to watch the photographer at work. It was so amazing seeing some of the pictures, the models did great, the photographer was awesome, it was just such a fun experience. I am so glad that I didn't let my fear overtake something that I really love to do. When I was younger that was my dream ~ head to New York and get into the fashion scene, but I didn't want to work with the clothes (although I dooo love them), I wanted to be doing the hair or make-up. Of course my life did not quite go in that direction and I love my life but I wonder sometimes what my life would have been like had I actually followed that path.
What dream did you have when you were younger, what did you THINK you would be doing when you reached adulthood? I wonder how many people can say they actually do what they wanted to be doing. That is one thing I really want to instill in my children ~ really do something you love, regardless of the pay. Because doing things you really love fills you with joy and that truly worth more than any amount of money.
Could it be that some of you are not acquainted with the story of Rudolph? Well pull up an ice block and lend an ear.

One More Time...
Yesterday I had the pleasure of assisting a good friend at a bridal show, she is the creater & instructer of Trinitas Yoga and she is amazing. We spent the day at a really cool bridal show in Philly. It was a very initmate setting at the Trust Building in Old City...a gorgeous venue. Trish and I were oogling over all of the stunning flowers, cakes, and even wedding dresses.
As we talked with all of the people strolling through we decided that we wanted to get married all over again....but we just to do all the fun stuff. Wear a gorgeous dress, eat lots of cake and hang out with all of our girlfriends.
I love my husband with all of my heart but it seems like our actual wedding day flew by so fast I never really got to enjoy all the "girly" stuff....like the dress, the cake ~ although I did LOTS of dancing. :) I love weddings and everything that goes along with them! I am a total girly girl and LOVED seeing all of the exquisite things on display. Thanks Trish for such a fun day and I would love to be your assistant again any time in the future!!

Too cute....
I found this great blog page that I have been keeping tabs on called The Rubber Punkin and she is doing this awesome giveway for a very cute bathing suit. It's very retro but modern at the same time....part of the rules of the giveaway is that you must pick which suit you like best (there are 4 of them) AND you must post something on your own personal blog/website....so here it is.
Check it out....if not for the giveaway but for the great craft ideas she has!

Heaven On Earth....
I have found the most amazing sheets! We have a king size bed, which I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. It has enough room for both Karl and I as well as Miss Magoo. Who has slept with us in bed since she could jump high enough to get on to it - pretty much from birth....just kidding.
But I have realized that buying king size sheets really stinks. They are CRAZY expensive. I think that I only have maybe 3 pair that I just keep washing like nuts because I am too stubborn to go out and pay $70-80 dollars for a set. Now would I pay that for a purse or a pair of shoes....do I really need to answer that! Come on....
Anyway, I was out doing some shopping at BJ's (similar to Costco or Sam's) and because I was by myself, Karl was home with Max, I was wandering down just about every aisle. I came across the aisle with sheet, pillows, blankets, etc. I just happen to notice that they have a set of king size sheets for $39.99. I am floored. I am thinking that they are probably going to feel like cardboard, I want to feel them but the box is all kinds of crazy sealed so I take a leap of faith and get them.
When I get home I notice that they are 100% organic cotton. I am kind of thinking big whup. OMG! Last night I finally put them on and I almost fell over when I finally got the box open and felt them for the first time. They were like silk. I am not kidding - like silk. Even Karl was impressed. We both said when we got them on the bed we felt guilty for sleeping on them....they are like 5 star quality hotel sheets....I wish that I could convey how great these sheets felt. To me (and my mom will agree) there is nothing like slipping onto a bed with fresh sheets on. These were amazing.
I have to say that was the best $40 purchase I have made in a very long time. I am seriously considering going back and getting another set.....

Across The Universe....
Last night I had a "me" night. Kind of...
Karl went over to a friend's house from work to play poker and Max was in bed by 6 pm. Soooo...I plopped down on the couch, grabbed a beer, and watched the coolest movie, "Across The Universe". It's been a long time since I sat down and watched a movie that really captivated me. The entire movie is acted/sung to the music of The Beatles....here is an excerpt from The Beatles website...
“I have never seen anything like it. Nor heard any noise to approximate the ceaseless, frantic, hysterical scream which met the Beatles when they took the stage after what seemed a hundred years of earlier acts. All very good, all marking time, because no one had come for anything other than the Beatles... Then the theatre went wild. First aid men and police – men in the stalls, women mainly in the balcony – taut and anxious, patrolled the aisles, one to every three rows.
Many girls fainted. Thirty were gently carried out, protesting in their hysteria, forlorn and wretched in an unrequited love for four lads who might have lived next door.
The stalls were like a nightmare March Fair. No one could remain seated. Clutching each other, hurling jelly babies at the stage, beating their brows, the youth of Britain’s second city surrendered themselves totally.”
~ Derek Taylor (From his book “Fifty Years Adrift”)

Let me tell you the movie was astounding! I definitely give this movie a thumbs up!!Here is the storyline from the website.
"A love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, mind exploration and rock 'n roll, the film moves from the dockyards of Liverpool to the creative psychedelia of Greenwich Village, from the riot-torn streets of Detroit to the killing fields of Vietnam. The star-crossed lovers, Jude (Jim Sturgess) and Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood), along with a small group of friends and musicians, are swept up into the emerging anti-war and counterculture movements, with "Dr. Robert" (Bono) and "Mr. Kite" (Eddie Izzard) as their guides.
Tumultuous forces outside their control ultimately tear the young lovers apart, forcing Jude and Lucy – against all odds – to find their own way back to each other."

A New Favorite Product...
I just recently found a new razor that I love! For you woman out there you know that it's hard to find one that does a good job....
Introducing The Schick Intuition. I realize that this has been out for quite a while but I just acquired one and wasn't really sure if I would like it. I love it. I don't have to mess with separate shaving gel/lotion it's all in one. Talk about time saving! I was able to shower this morning and shave my legs in 10 minutes flat. That is so important when you have a little one!!!! Great product!

My Dream Bag...
I am obsessed with purses. Ask Karl....I have many and always want more. But I guess that kind of goes for all things I can shop for. Shoes, clothes, make-up, etc. BUT I have a new obsession....and of course it has to be a very expensive one ~ one that I could never afford unless somehow I happened to win the lotto (even though I never play the lotto!!).
For some time I have been wanting to combine my purse with Max's diaper bag. But I want something stylish....something that looks cute...something that doesn't resemble a book bag. The problem is many of these combined bags are way out of my range, but a girl can dream right....here are a few of my favorites as of this moment......

I realize that they complete opposites of each other and if I had to choose one right at this very second I would choose the top one, which is Coach, the other one is by Vera Bradley. I really do have a problem. :)

It's Official....
I am 100% a Mom. I had my very 1st play date at another Mom's house. :)
We had a great time. There were a few other Mom's that came over with their kids and we just sat around, had a little lunch, chatted, and laughed alot. It was sooooo nice! Very good for my soul. I miss my girls from Michigan so much, just having a girlfriend to hang out with is priceless so this was a really good day for me!

Guilty...
Guilty...that is me.
When you become a new parent you are constantly reading and trying to absorb all the information you can so you can become a great parent. One of the biggest things that I have read is that you should always put your baby to sleep drowsy, not asleep, so that they can figure out how to fall asleep in their own....it's supposed to create good sleep habits as they get older.
This is where I am guilty. Max is a snuggler. I love to cuddle with him when he is getting sleepy, he nuzzles his head into my arm, brings his little legs up to my stomach and just looks so darn cute. I love when he's is asleep in my arms and makes all kinds of little noises, or when he really falls into sleep and does this really adorable sigh. How can I possibly put him down when he is 100% angel at that very moment. I know all too soon that these moments will be far and few between so I guess I am just going to have to continue to be guilty!

Yum-o!
Ok I am probably going to get my head taken off by putting this down in writing but I can't help it. I was watching Oprah today, yes that is my one little splurges of being a "sahm" (stay at home mom) and Justin Timberlake was on. I will admit that I have always been a fan of the boy bands (Mel you cannot say a word - I know that deep down inside you still love NKOTB!).
Anyhue I have been a very loyal fan of Justin's since he left N'Sync and today I saw him perform live on Oprah's show and he was fantastic! I am happy to say that I am a fan of his. I feel that his music has moved on past his teen years and he is starting to mature...who cares that he is still like 15 years younger than me....I still love him! BTW Reba McEntire was on w/Kelly Clarkson and they were both phenomenal as well! All in all it was a great show!
